Maybe I Should Put Down the Book and Pick Up the Phone…

My mom loves to say I’m addicted to social media, but me and my social media report from Agorapulse beg to differ

According to Agorapulse, a social media evaluating tool, I have only had about thirty “engagements” in the past thirty days on my Twitter account. These engagements consist of likes, retweets, replies, and direct messages. As much as I would love to believe the report on my Twitter account means I spend a minuscule amount of time scrolling through my timeline, I know that is not the case.

The engagements I have are 100% from direct messages, as my friends and I like to share funny tweets with one another, so I don’t have any engagements coming from likes, retweets, or replies. If I had done this report on my Twitter usage years ago, it would look very different, but in recent years I have taken a back seat more on Twitter, observing more than actively engaging. (Observing for hours, if I may add.)

Agorapulse goes into all types of metrics for social media accounts. On top of engagements, it shows follower count, brand awareness, user’s activity, hashtags/interactions, and label distribution. This data is extremely important for businesses and brands on social media. It allows them to see what works for them, how to improve their engagement, and track their progress.

For a personal account, these metrics may not be as accurate or meaningful as we can see by my reports, but this kind of tool can be insanely beneficial for businesses and brands.
